₹137 crores released by the government for sports infrastructure development in Jammu & Kashmir: Satish Sharma

The government informed the House today that over ₹137 crore has been released for upgrading sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir during the financial year 2025-26. In addition, over ₹2.57 crore has been released for the development of sports facilities in Samba district alone during the current financial year.

This information was provided by the Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, in response to a question raised by MLA Chander Prakash Ganga.
The Minister further stated that ₹150 crore has been sanctioned under the Capital Expenditure (Capex) budget for the sports sector and related activities in Jammu and Kashmir, of which ₹56.57 crore has been spent as of December 2025.
He also detailed the development works undertaken in the Vijaypur assembly constituency, which include the development of a playground at Katwalta Purmandal, chain-link fencing around the synthetic handball court at Government Higher Secondary School Tarore, Bari Brahmana, construction of a playground at Rahya Morh Panchayat Halqa Patti near the railway crossing in Vijaypur, construction of a sports stadium at Birpur Vijaypur, and the establishment of a kickboxing ring at Panchayat Bagla Rahya Vijaypur.
