Baramulla Set for Major Sports Infrastructure Upgrade; Floodlights, Turf Facilities to Transform Stadium Landscape
Baramulla is witnessing a significant boost in sports infrastructure as the Jammu & Kashmir administration rolls out a comprehensive upgrade plan

From being a valley which poured resilience to being an arena pursuing ardor for sports, Baramulla tends to step into a new story where youth will submerge in the chronicles of identity and opportunity. The Jammu and Kashmir government is ready to pitch in on the comprehensive upgrade of the sports infrastructure in Baramulla, allowing the push to paint the canvas of the district as a competitive hub for youth athletes.
The J&K government has rolled up its sleeves to dig into the upgrade of cricket, football, and hockey facilities, after the queries were posed bluntly by MLA Javed Hassan Beig of the People's Democratic Party in the Legislative Assembly. The government has replied with the initiative of revamping the General Bipin Rawat Cricket Stadium, upgrading the football and hockey grounds, with the inculcation of modern turfs and competitive standard amenities.
The government is set to install day-night floodlights, empowering the facility to conduct matches under lights, which will eventually armour the stadium to deliver extended playing hours and potential to hold the state- leel tournaments. New practice pitches, advanced seating arrangements, pavilion facility and indicated security systems be deployed in this revamped stadium design. District Commissioner Minga Sherpa, reviews the progress of the stadium and envisions the strengthened sports facilitie’s delivery to be soon in open.
