Sanjeev Arora Unveils ₹1.74 Crore Development Push, Sports Infrastructure Takes Centre Stage in Ludhiana
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has inaugurated multiple development projects worth ₹1.74 crore in Ludhiana, placing sports facilities at the heart of community transformation.

In a decisive push towards strengthening grassroots sports and urban infrastructure, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has inaugurated multiple development projects worth ₹1.74 crore in Ludhiana, placing sports facilities at the heart of community transformation. The highlight of the announcement is the launch of a multi-purpose sports park near Civil Hospital, developed at a cost of ₹91 lakh. The facility, once a neglected dumping ground, has been transformed into a vibrant sports hub featuring box cricket, pickleball, volleyball, and basketball courts, all accessible free of cost to the public
Turning Urban Spaces into Sports Infrastructure Hubs
At the core of this initiative is a clear strategy, reclaiming underutilised urban land and converting it into active sports infrastructure. The newly built sports park is designed not just as a recreational facility, but as a structured space to cultivate a sporting culture among youth.
Officials highlighted that such infrastructure plays a crucial role in encouraging physical activity, community participation, and long-term engagement in sports. The availability of free-access, multi-sport facilities ensures inclusivity, allowing young athletes from all backgrounds to train and compete locally.
The initiative also aligns with Punjab’s broader campaign to promote fitness-driven lifestyles and expand grassroots participation. By embedding sports into everyday urban spaces, the government is attempting to build a sustained pipeline of talent while improving public health outcomes.
Sports-Led Development Gains Momentum Across Punjab
This development is part of a larger statewide push where sports infrastructure is increasingly being used as a tool for social and economic transformation. Previous projects led by Sanjeev Arora have included basketball courts, swimming facilities, and upgrades to existing stadiums across Ludhiana, reinforcing a long-term vision of accessible sports ecosystems.
The government’s approach combines infrastructure expansion with youth engagement, aiming to create safe, structured environments where sports can thrive at the grassroots level. By integrating civic upgrades with sports facilities, Punjab is positioning urban development as both functional and community-driven. With projects like the Ludhiana sports park setting the tone, the state continues to demonstrate how targeted investments, even at a local scale, can reshape neighbourhoods into active, inclusive sporting spaces.
