In August 2025, BCA invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) to renovate and redevelop the existing Moinul Haq Stadium into a world-class International Cricket Complex under the Hybrid Annuity Model(HAM). According to reports, BCA/BCCI would pay 40% during construction in 5 installments; the contractor funds 60% Cost on his own and is repaid via fixed annuity over 15 years in 30 installments with interest.
Key features
In its new form, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium will be made completely world-class. International cricket and IPL matches will be played here. An official announcement in this regard will be made soon by the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA). According to experts, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium will have a seating capacity of more than 40 thousand spectators. After its completion, the people of Patna will get the chance to see great players from the country and abroad playing cricket here.
Stadium within a stadium
The plan for the stadium's makeover is quite extensive, which will provide new strength to Bihar’s sports infrastructure. Under the project, along with the main stadium, a smaller stadium will also be built inside the complex where players can practice regularly. This will provide better training facilities to the emerging players of the state. Apart from this, a swimming pool, restaurant, and a hotel equipped with ultra-modern facilities are also to be constructed in the stadium complex. This will provide better facilities to the players, as well as the spectators and sports organizers.
Field exposure of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium
A World Cup match has also been held at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. Teams from Kenya and Zimbabwe have played here. This match took place in the year 1996. Apart from this, international-level players have also played exhibition matches here. In the year 2023, Indian players Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and others came here and played a Ranji match. During this time, thousands of spectators gathered here. Currently, due to being very old, the condition of the spectator galleries of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium has become dilapidated. However, the ground of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium is still magnificent today. The cricket pitch prepared here is also excellent. The field is maintained by the Bihar Cricket Association.
