Sriganganagar: ₹30 lakhs approved for major sports infrastructure upgrades at Netewala Government School
The project brings lighting, turf, and a pavilion, unlocking night practice and modern training access. Girls’ education also gains with a new prayer shed and interlocking flooring.

Situated at the India-Pakistan border, Sriganganagar is known as the ‘Food Basket of Rajasthan’ due to its agricultural prosperity, especially with its high-quality wheat, cotton, and kinnow. Primarily with this, the State GST Department in Sriganganagar achieved a revenue of ₹700.41 crore in 2025, marking an 11% growth. But when it comes to sports? Well, the district hasn’t been able to imprint its name on this department. And now, to bridge this gap, the administration has decided to expand the facilities for players in the Netewala Government School.
Key aspects
An amount of ₹30 lakh has been approved for development works at the playground and school. The playground will be equipped with lighting, grass turf, and a pavilion. Players will get modern facilities, and will also be able to practice at night. At the same location, the girls’ school will see the construction of a prayer hall (shed) and interlocking flooring.

On the request of Sarpanch Anita Vinod Tawar, the funds were approved by District Collector Dr. Manju and Zila Parishad CEO Giradhar Beniwal. This will be one of the first major upgrades regarding sports infrastructure developments at the school level. Although the district has a few complexes and other higher educational institutions.
Major Stadiums and Complexes
Ganga Singh Stadium serves as the primary public venue, hosting hockey, lawn tennis, baseball, athletics, basketball, and large events via district sports office tie-ups. MLA Sports Complex offers a cricket ground, football field, basketball/tennis courts, and a gym for community use. City sports clubs provide indoor tennis, volleyball, open gyms, and boxing facilities.
Educational Institutions
The district has higher educational institutes, including the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College. The college has spacious grounds for cricket, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, badminton, handball, and football for inter-house tournaments. Surendra Group of Institutions includes table tennis, carom, basketball, and volleyball. The Birla Public School and Jain College add outdoor fields, modern indoor spaces, and gyms with a weight training/conditioning area. Shah Satnam Ji Girls’ College offers niche sports like tug-of-war and netball training.
