Broken Dreams: Sidelined Neymar Jr. Left Behind in Los Angeles as World Cup Despair Deepens
Heartbreak for Brazil fans as Neymar Jr. is not only ruled out of the Haiti match due to injury, but has reportedly been left behind by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The game of football can be extremely harsh at times, and none other than Neymar Jr feels the brunt of that cruelty today.
There was widespread euphoria amongst the football community last week when pictures of the renowned striker back in light practice began to emerge. Footballers began hoping that Neymar Jr had overcome his nagging calf problem once and for all. But that euphoria has turned into total disappointment. While initially it seemed that Neymar Jr wasn't ready yet for the upcoming match against Haiti, it now seems that there is much more pain in store for the Brazilian star.
Left Behind by Ancelotti
Going by rumours emanating from within the camp, manager Carlo Ancelotti has adopted an iron-fist approach towards the recovery process of the superstar. While Neymar is fit enough to serve as a bench-warmer in Brazil's first 1-1 stalemate with Morocco, Ancelotti has allegedly told his number 10 that he will not even travel with the game-day squad to the arena.
Instead of enjoying the experience with the rest of his team, Neymar is going to stay behind in Los Angeles, where the Brazilian side have their base camp, undergoing rigorous treatment sessions alone. It is an extremely depressing experience for countless supporters of the Brazil football team and Neymar himself, who had been dreaming of his triumphant comeback after seeing him sitting on the bench in the first game of the World Cup.
The Burden Shifts in Group C
Without their emotionally charged leader in the treatment room, the weight of having to play as the Brazil Team rests fully on the shoulders of the next generation of stars.
Seleção appeared lifeless and uninspired in their play without Neymar, lacking imagination and creativity as well as relying on their superstar to provide some of the flair on the wings. This means that it will now fall upon the shoulders of players such as Vinicius Jr. and Raphinha to provide some of the attacking impetus on the flanks, while Bruno Guimarães will have to provide the team with more pace coming out of the midfield engine room. Ancelotti’s men enter their match against Haiti in desperate need of a victory without their star player.
Sportscape thinks that what is particularly sad to witness is a world-class football player being kept away from the pitch during the last big international tournament he might get to participate in. Anyone who genuinely loves this wonderful sport hopes that all of this will not prove fruitless and that we will be witnessing Neymar’s brilliance at the FIFA 2026 World Cup very, very soon.
