At the 2026 Oman Tender Board meeting, RO4.65 million was approved for Phase 3 consultancy of the Integrated Sports City Stadium in Al Musannah.

At the first Oman Tender Board meeting of 2026, a sanction of RO4.65 million was approved for consultancy services to advance Phase 3 of the Integrated Sports City Stadium at Al Musannah, a critical planning step before implementation. The meeting also saw developmental allocations worth RO32.6 million across multiple sectors, including food protection, transport, and healthcare equipment. Notably, sports infrastructure alone received 14% of this substantial sum, signaling a shift in priorities compared to previous years, which were dominated by education and transportation.
A First-of-Its-Kind Multisport Megaproject
The project is designed to have a seating capacity of 25,000 and cover a sprawling footprint of 1 million sqm, setting the stage for world-class multisport infrastructure. Oman’s vision aims to host marquee international championships in the future. What makes this project unique is its inclusivity, offering access for both elite athletes and grassroots participants, thereby bridging professional competition with community engagement.
Building sports infrastructure for Excellence
The design consultancy is a foundational step that defines key aspects such as facility capacity, spatial layout, and multifunctional use. Global infrastructure benchmarks suggest that early expert input can prevent budget overruns by 15–20%. Additionally, compliance with international athlete standards is integrated from the outset, streamlining future bidding and execution. Adhering to FIFA, World Athletics, and Olympic Committee guidelines will ensure Oman achieves international reach and recognition.
