PMRDA Builds Pune’s First FIFA Standard Stadium To Boost Regional Talent
Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is developing two football stadiums with multi-utility centres in Pimpri-Chinchwad to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure and improve access for local athletes.

Maharashtra’s Oxford of the East, Pune, has a renowned reputation for being a leading IT hub along with its premium educational institutions like SCHMRD and IISER. Expanding its horizons in line with the recent trend of urban centres investing heavily in sports infrastructure, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has also invested in the development of two football stadiums along with multi-utility centres in Pimpri Chinchwad, with its major goal being quality infrastructure accessibility for the local talents.
“These projects will create opportunities for youth to develop their sporting skills,” Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla said.

The two facilities shall be built in sector 3 and sector 12, respectively.The sector 3 counterpart of the project is 80% complete, featuring a 44-metre-long and 30-metre-wide football turf with a squash court as its highlight. A 40-person-capacity spectator gallery, along with a compound wall, utility building and a water storage tank, are among the project aspects that have been completed. The 20% remaining work includes laying the turf and internal paving blocks.
The sector 12 part of the project is relatively larger, spread across 130,650 sq metres. The facility shall constitute a FIFA-compliant football turf 105 metres long and 68 metres wide with a capacity of 400 spectators. As per the officials, the perforated drainage pipes and the sub-base layer have been successfully completed, leaving the seating arrangement and utility building development as pending.
The project has also been well equipped to handle monsoon variations with quality turf installations and systematised drainage systems.
