Praygraj's Olympic swimming pool is getting ready to splash water again in line with its revival project sanction
Prayagraj’s Olympic-size swimming pool is set for revival after a ₹2.25 crore sanction, ending a 7-year delay.

The Sangam city catches the eye again as the refurbishment of its Olympic swimming pool gets an administrative nod after a wait of 7 long years.
In light of CM Yogi's vision of transforming Prayagraj into a tier 2 National Sports Node, CDS has floated tenders for the revival of the Georgetown located Olympic swimming pool following a ₹2.25 crore sanction by the State government. A ₹3.25 crore project was initially instated on similar lines back in 2019 which could not live up to the expectations due to the collapse of the source tube well in 2023.
Highlights of the project
The new vision aims to reconstruct the spectator gallery, repair the driving platform, and renew the plumbing requirements with priority being given to construction of the new tube well first. The project targets to complete by mid April before the summer training in an attempt to aid the kids from practising in the Yamuna river at the earliest.
CM Yogi's grand scheme for Uttar Pradesh Sports Infrastructure
In order to revamp UP as a smart city, CM Yogi has gone beyond the conventional initiatives to merge the State's flagship religious festival with sports development. The Magh Mela 2026 is envisioned to witness water sports like parasailing and jet skiing to boost tourism on both frontiers of religion and sports. Under Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, two of praygraj's stadiums namely Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium and Amitabh Bachchan Sports Complex received a collective award of ₹4.1 crores for inclusivity upgradation aiding the differently abled and highlighting the relevance of PSU abled development. The successful hosting of the 2025 National Junior Athletic Championship in Prayagraj was yet another event dovetailing CM's regional development through event centric blueprint.
