Arunachal Pradesh’s Olympic Body Pushes For Sports Infrastructure Upgrade, Highlighted Decentralization Of Elite Sports Facilities Worth ₹105 crore
The Arunachal Olympic Association has urged the Arunachal Pradesh government to urgently upgrade sports infrastructure to support athletes across the region

In a formal meeting of Arunachal Olympic Association president Taba Tedir and secretary general Bamang Tado with 36 active sports association representatives, urged the government of Arunachal Pradesh to revamp its sports infrastructure, for it is hindering the welfare of athletes. The organization highlighted the leakages in the current sports plan, with the regional participants facing the brunt the hardest.
Targeted reforms proposed
- Demand was made for modern stadiums, quality training centers with regulated standard compliance, and improved support systems for the center's benchmarks.
- Decentralization of elite sports facilities worth ₹105 crore was the flagship issue highlighted against which multipurpose sporting facilities were proposed to be built in key districts.
AOA's appeal had already been envisioned in the Arunachal Pradesh state sports policy 2017, suggesting one dedicated sports facility in every administrative block, but it could not see fruition due to implementation gaps and hurdles. Further creation without maintenance seems redundant, thereby raising the proposal of governance mechanisms and long-term planning committees to ensure feasibility in the long run.
State's expansive infrastructure drive
After Anini's success, the state has also envisioned a 25000-seater FIFA-compliant stadium at Pasighat, Tezu, Ziro, Chimpu, and Aloo under its Olympic Sports Mission. The state has also created a dedicated committee to reform sports administration by standardizing the coach selection process and improving facilities at the Miao training campus.
