Shreyas Iyer could possibly took the lead of Indian Men's Cricket Team T20Is

A huge change is going to take place in the Indian men's T20Is cricket team as Shreyas Iyer is about to replace Suryakumar Yadav as the new captain. The final squad is yet to be announced by the board for the Ireland and England tour.
With the rise of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old new wonder of Indian cricket, the team setup might get a change, as the selectors are already eyeing Sooryavanshi.
The Los Angeles Olympics tournament is about to happen in 2028 and the next T20I World Cup is also going to take place as well in New Zealand and Australia in the same year. And sources are talking about the possibility of dropping SKY as he's almost 35.
And along with that his performance in the T20 World Cup 2026 was also not that promising as his total score was 242 after nine innings with a strike rate of 136.72. Also, his performance in the very recent Indian Premier League 2026 was not that commendable as he has scored a total of 270 runs out of 13 innings and the average of 20.76 and a strike rate of 147.54.
Whereas the other player in question, Sreyas Iyer is 31 and hasn't had a chance in the T20 national team since December, 2023. Although he has been the captain of three different IPL teams in the previous year. He remained the captain of the Delhi Capitals, the Kings XI Punjab and the Kolkata Knight Riders. And in the current season of IPL, his strike rate was 168.81 with a total score of 498.
Previously, Rohit Sharma was dropped in October 2025, after leading the team in the Champions Trophy in March. Although he was still a part of the ODI squad. Also, Sooryavanshi is probably going to be the youngest player in the national cricket team for men since Sachin Tendulkar.
After observing the entire scenario, Sportscape thinks , we are going to see major changes in the national cricket team for men. And we can hope these changes will bring more prospects and pride to our nation.
