Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju Unveils Twin Stadium Push For Himachal Pradesh
Kiren Rijiju has unveiled a twin-stadium push for Himachal Pradesh, signalling a major boost to the state’s growing sporting ambitions.

The spiritually awakened Himachal, often referred to as the Dev Bhumi, is now gaining recognition as the Khel Bhumi after having received allocations worth ₹4 crore in the current financial year. After bagging laurels in the Gulmarg-based Winter Games of 2026, Himachal is now focusing on building its sports infrastructure to maintain the winning streak with recent announcements like the ₹112.49 crore multi-sport complex in Nadaun.
Roadmap for the infrastructural haul
The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju took to social media to declare the commencement of another project in Chamba district on similar lines. Two stadiums are envisioned to be constructed at Bhanjraju and Salooni villages in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The project shall be funded under the central scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, aimed at funding community infrastructure in minority areas. The project is estimated to receive a fund of ₹7 crore for the Bhanjradu counterpart, with the indoor stadium at the Salooni assembly constituency receiving ₹9.2 crore, along with a ₹9 crore investment in the IT building, making the overhaul investment by the Ministry of Minority Affairs estimated to be around ₹31 crore.

The timeline estimation is 18 months for the Bhanjraju and 20 months for the Salooni equivalent. Along with the minister, he also declared a total of ₹25 crore has been allocated to Chamba, whereby eligible beneficiaries shall receive loans at an interest rate of 6%.
“The facility will help regional young players in new opportunities as well as sharpen talents at the ground level and inspire youth to achieve big dreams in the field of sports,” the Union minister said in his social media post.
