Ind vs Afg Test: Virat Kohli’s Injury Blow Opens the Door for Yashasvi Jaiswal in Major India Twist
Jashaswi Jaiswal replaced VK in the upcoming Ind vs Afg ODI series

Ardent fans of Indian Cricket are eyeing the upcoming India vs Afghanistan Tournament organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board also known as ACB in India. Meanwhile, a major change has taken place as the board has declared that Virat Kohli is not going to play in the upcoming one-day international series and he's going to be replaced by Jashaswi Jaiswal.
The Indian Premier League 2026 has just come to an end. Virat Kohli has served the entire tournament with a mind-blowing form. And made a total of 675 runs with a strike rate of 165.85. His performance has severely helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru to retain the IPL trophy. But, during the final match of the league, Kohli developed a hamstring injury. And he's not yet recovered from that.
This is why the selectors have decided to board Jashaswi Jaiswal instead of Kohli for the three-day ODI series against Afghanistan. Jaiswal has previously served the Indian national team in a one-day international match. Six months ago he was taken in a match against South Africa because the famous Indian batter Shubman Gill was absent. And he had performed remarkably.
Though Jaiswal is not a regular player in the national team. We've seen him occasionally under the jersey. As he's one of the potential Indian batters, the eyes of Indian supporters are on him right now. The chief selector of the Indian team has stated that the estimated return of Kohli is still uncertain. Although, they're hoping that Kohli will be playing in the upcoming matches against England that are going to be happened in mid July this year.
Observing the overall scenario, Sportscape thinks this three-day ODI series is going to be a big opportunity for Jaiswal. Also, we hope to see a fit and fine Kohli on the ground very soon as well as we congratulate Jaiswal for getting another chance to prove himself in the international domain.
