₹48.71 International Hockey Turf Project To Boost Madhya Pradesh's Sporting Ecosystem
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently performed the bhoomi pujan for an international-standard hockey turf at the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex in Nanakheda, marking a major step towards strengthening the state’s sports ecosystem.

Home to the legendary Mahakaleshwar Temple, anchoring the cultural beliefs of many in Madhya Pradesh, Ujjain, also known as the Greenwich of India, shall now pose as the pivot of sports-led architectural developments in the state.
Madhya Pradesh CM Dr Mohan Yadav performed the bhoomi pujan for the international standard hockey turf in Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex in Nanakheda, Ujjain. The project shall improve the state's prospects of hosting marquee events ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Ahead of the FIH hockey women's world cup being held at the BCG stadium, the hockey turf shall be very beneficial to host such events in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav says, "Rajmata Scindia Stadium has been inaugurated today with the inauguration of a new ground for AstroTurf and hockey. This ground is about 21.5 acres in the name of Rajmata Scindia. It was a reserve ground 50 years ago, but gradually, with all kinds of games, it will improve the level of the games and will also provide facilities to the players.''

Roadmap to the infrastructural marvel
The ₹48.71 crore worth project includes a hockey pavilion, an athletic pavilion and a hockey field adjacent to the complementary construction of roads and parking facilities. Other structural details include a modern shooting range, badminton hall, mallakhamb facility, and gymnasium hall, equipped with sports equipment worth ₹1.50 crore.
State’s vision to transform Ujjain as new sports city
Ujjain has recently been receiving multiple grants for upgrading its sports facilities, starting with the land allocation of 8.71 hectares for the construction of sports grounds dedicated to the sports department. Following this, another ₹7.22 crore athletics synthetic court was sanctioned along with lawn tennis synthetic courts and a grass football ground.
