Assam chief minister pushes for sports hub development in talks with Union Sports Minister
Assam CM met Union Sports Minister to discuss plans about building Assam into a sports hub

Post his meeting with Madaviya, the Assam chief minister took to X, emphasising the BJP's guiding philosophy of “Sewa first," binding every karyakarta of the party. He also expressed gratitude to the union minister for sparing time on his birthday to discuss efforts to develop Assam as a sports hub and provide an enabling sports atmosphere for young athletes of the region.
After taking an oath for the second time as Assam’s chief minister, Himanta and his government are focusing on forwarding sports infrastructural development in the northeastern state. During his meeting with the Union minister, he discussed the prospect of developing sports infrastructural facilities in the state for upcoming national and international sports events.
With the 39th National Games 2027 scheduled to be hosted in the Northeast region, the recent meeting between the union minister and the Assam CM holds more significance. Successful hosting of IPL games and international cricket matches in recent times by the Assam Cricket Board highlights the state’s consistent efforts towards building a stable sports ecosystem.
