A key highlight of Bihar’s strategy is its mini stadium and rural playground model, developed under MGNREGA, which has now drawn national attention. The central government has decided to replicate this model across the country, marking Bihar as a template for grassroots sports infrastructure development.
The state is also focusing on early talent development, with proposals to make sports compulsory from school to college level, ensuring a structured sporting culture from a young age. Officials highlighted that initiatives like Khelo India events hosted in Bihar have already boosted visibility and participation, reinforcing the state’s growing sporting ecosystem.
Olympic Vision 2036: Bihar Seeks a Place on the Global Stage
In a significant push, Minister Shreyasi Singh urged that Bihar be considered to host at least one event if India secures the 2036 Olympic Games. With ongoing investments in sports complexes, talent identification programmes, and institutional support through bodies like the Bihar State Sports Authority, Bihar is aligning its ambitions with national goals.
