Infrastructural insight of the project
The stadium shall have two components, namely a multi-sport stadium and an indoor recreation area for events. The outdoor stadium shall have facilities for cricket, football, and training fields for athletes. The indoor premises shall contain an auditorium, indoor games space, and community halls. Complementary peripherals like changing rooms and local training spaces shall also be made available.
PSU responsible funding model
Owing its name to its location in the coal-rich area of Vidarbha and coal being regarded as the black diamond of eastern India, the stadium has also been named the Black Diamond Stadium. The estimated cost of the project is around ₹5.05 crore. The project is being targeted to get funds from the CSR initiative of PSU, namely Western Coalfields Limited. This stadium hence, is a good example to promote investment in sports infrastructure as a part of the community responsibility of corporate firms as well as PSUs. This initiative shall bridge the gap in mining towns and elite sports precincts while fostering community engagement.
