Cisco Expands USGA Deal as AI and Digital Transformation Reshape Golf
Cisco expands its USGA deal with AI-powered infrastructure and digital transformation set to redefine fan experience and golf operations globally.

Cisco and the United States Golf Association have announced a multiyear extension of their longstanding partnership, strengthening the organisation’s push toward AI-led innovation and digital transformation across golf championships and operations. The renewed USGA deal will see Cisco continue as the Official Technology Partner of the governing body, supporting events including the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open.
The partnership expansion reflects the growing role of intelligent infrastructure, cybersecurity, and connected venue ecosystems in modern sports operations. Since first partnering in 2018, Cisco has helped the USGA manage networking systems, championship connectivity, and digital experiences, but the latest agreement places a stronger emphasis on AI integration and advanced event technologies.
Under the renewed agreement, Cisco will deploy AI-ready infrastructure designed to support large-scale championship operations and emerging AI applications. The company’s technologies, including Wi-Fi 7 access points, Meraki security cameras, Splunk analytics dashboards, and AI Defense cybersecurity systems, will be used during upcoming championships at Riviera Country Club and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The systems are expected to support more than 240,000 fans, media personnel, and event operators during tournament weeks.
A key aspect of the collaboration involves the development of AI-powered tools aimed at improving accessibility to golf’s official rules. The USGA is currently working on an AI-based experience that can provide golfers with real-time answers to rules-related queries, while Cisco’s AI Defense platform will help secure the underlying infrastructure and monitor risks linked to AI deployment.
Jon Podany, Chief Commercial Officer at the USGA, stated that Cisco has played a major role in building the organisation’s technological foundation and helping it evolve alongside changing fan expectations. Cisco Vice President Rob McQueen added that AI is becoming increasingly central to the future of golf and fan engagement.
The renewed USGA deal also arrives amid Cisco’s broader AI expansion strategy, with the company recently unveiling new AI networking and security innovations designed for enterprise-scale digital infrastructure.
Sportscapefeels that the partnership highlights how digital transformation is becoming central to the future of global sports governance and event management. From crowd analytics and AI-powered rule assistance to cybersecurity and connected venue ecosystems, sports organisations are increasingly investing in intelligent infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and fan engagement.
