NGT Pulls Up DDA–Omaxe Dwarka Sports Project Over Green Violations
The National Green Tribunal has taken strict action against the Delhi Development Authority’s World Street Sports Center project in Dwarka Sector 19B, led by Omaxe Ltd., for proceeding without mandatory environmental clearance

Sustainability is a very important aspect of every infrastructural endeavor. In order to ensure that every infrastructural project is pursued without harming the environment around, the central governing body, the National Green Tribunal, has clearly laid down clearance norms.
The Delhi Development Authority’s project of a world street sports center lmt., a proponent of Omaxe Ltd., has faced legal action for not having the requisite environmental clearance. This project, located in Dwarka Sector 19B, faced an environment act violation claim in 2025, after which Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member A. Senthil Vel have now declared that the project had not received formal clearance, as the PARIVESH portal shows the status to be ADS, additional documents required. The project's defense proposal of its status as deemed environmental clearance under Clause 8(iii) of the EIA Notification, 2006, was also nullified by the tribunal.

Final verdict by the bench
The subsequent approval granted by the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on Feb 17 is of no consequence, as the alleged tree felling had occurred much earlier,” said the order.
“The tree officer concerned is directed to carry out the spot inspection immediately and ascertain the number of trees that were illegally felled by the project proponent before CEC approval dated Feb 17... and take remedial and punitive action within eight weeks," said the bench. It directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
What the concerned company had to say
Worldstreet Sports Center Limited, in a statement, said the company is filing an appeal against the said order. “We have taken note of the NGT’s order and will comply with all directions of the authorities concerned. The project developer has consistently followed due process and applicable environmental norms. Further, permission for tree cutting has already been granted by the CEC. We remain committed to executing the project in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations,” said the statement.
