Two tiered infrastructural blueprint
The N$9-million project shall be located at the OlympAfrica Centre at Omaruru. While the other 28 centers of sports were being built under a 2-tiered model with the center giving policy insights and implementation being at the disposal of the locals, the model for the current project is also two-tiered.It shall be built under FIFA, providing the support and technical expertise to the project in order to make it compliant with international standards, while the implementation shall be looked into by ANOCA working with the National Olympic Committee.
Significance of the facility
The initiative is the outcome of a strong cooperative partnership between the Olympic Movement in Namibia and wider Africa. This facility being constructed at Omaruru shall provide the needed exposure to young Namibians and increase grassroots-level athletic participation. It shall provide accessibility to quality infrastructure for all the local athletes, thereby giving them the opportunity to embrace the values of sports.
