Goa CM Visits Yas Marina Circuit, Sees It as Benchmark for World-Class Sports Infrastructure Ahead of F1 Race in Goa
Goa successfully hosted its first Formula 1 race, marking a major milestone for Indian motorsport.

With the successful staging of its first Formula 1 race, Goa is now accelerating its next phase of sports infrastructure development, focusing on strengthening and elevating its motorsport ecosystem to global standards. During a landmark visit to Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant called the iconic venue a “benchmark for world-class sports infrastructure,” highlighting the state’s goal to establish a top-tier F1 race destination at home.

Accompanied by senior officials and advisers, Sawant toured Yas Marina, the UAE’s premier motorsport facility that hosts the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The circuit showcases advanced design, professional spectator amenities, and year-round training and commercial facilities. Sawant said Goa aims to learn from Yas Marina’s integration of technology, fan-engagement zones, hospitality, and operational excellence as it prepares to host Formula 1 in India.

With the Formula 1 race in Goa already successfully staged, the state government is now shifting focus from debut execution to long-term excellence and global competitiveness. Hosting the race has firmly placed Goa and India in the international motorsport spotlight, prompting authorities to accelerate efforts toward strengthening and future-proofing its racing infrastructure to consistently meet FIA Grade 1 standards.
The emphasis has now moved toward refining circuit capabilities, enhancing connectivity and accessibility, and building a robust commercial and operational ecosystem that can sustain recurring global events.
