India mixed 4x100m relay bronze Asian Relay Championships 2026 Shangyu China Animesh Kujur

India's mixed 4x100m relay team won the bronze medal at the Asian Relay Championships 2026 in Shangyu, China, after clocking a time of 41.47 seconds on Saturday. The Indian quartet of Animesh Kujur, Pranav Gurav Tamanna, and Sneha Shanuvallifinished in just 0.12 seconds short of the national record of 41.35 seconds, which is the same set of athletes who had helped set early this year at the World Relays, with Ragul Kumar and Nithya Gandhe forming part of that record-setting team.
Thailand won the gold medal in the event, finishing time by 41.14 seconds, while hosts of China took the silver medal with a time of 41.29 second and comes the Indian team's bronze medal which had finished in the very first race of the evening, and it marked the start of a strong showing for the country at this year's championships, since India's mixed 4x400m relay team also went on to win a silver medal later in the same session, finishing behind gold medallists Kazakhstan.
This is the second time in which India has won a medal in the mixed 4x400m relay event at the Asian Relay Championships, having claimed gold with a national record time at the very first edition of the competition back in 2024. India also has three more relay teams which is set to compete on the very second day of the championships, including the women's 4x100m, women's 4x400m, and men's 4x400m squads. The Indian men's 4x100m relay team, however, this had to be withdrawn from the competition due to injuries within the squad.
Sportscapefeels that the bronze medal finish that comes within just 0.12 seconds of the national record shows India's mixed relay team is genuinely close to producing something even bigger on the international stage. With multiple Indian relay squads still set to compete over the rest of the championships, this bronze could turn out to be just the first of several podium finishes for the country in Shangyu. The performance also adds to a growing list of positive results for Indian relay athleticsthis year, and it sets up an encouraging foundation heading into the busier international season still to come.
