Inside FC Barcelona's Camp Nou's infrastructural transformation powered by Creston Electronics
Inside FC Barcelona's Camp Nou's infrastructural transformation powered by Creston Electronics. Started in 2022 , the redevelopment project is expected to finish by 2027.

Conventionally, sports stadiums' scope was restricted to just hosting games during the ongoing season. Fans now expect a seamless experience from entry to exit; they want more comfort and connectivity. As a result, sports franchises across the globe are undergoing transformation projects that go beyond matchday needs.
The fan favourite FC Barcelona has undertaken a similar project to refurbish its home stadium, the Spotify Camp Nou. Under the Espai Barça project, the stadium will undergo a €1.6 billion redevelopment. To modernise the iconic venue, the project will look to expand its capabilities at a central level. Technological integration remains the central focus of the renovation project.
The redevelopment project that began in 2022 saw the appointment of Creston Electronics as the Official Smart Hospitality Systems partner. The project is expected to wrap up by late 2027, with the stadium currently operating at reduced capacity during the transition.
In a massive shift, the stadium’s capacity will expand from 62,652 to 105,000, making it one of the largest football venues in the world. At the core of this project is the centralised system that is expected to connect every corner of the stadium, from hospitality suites, press areas, to locker rooms and operational spaces. The objective is to build spaces that can be adapted instantly based on needs. A modern-day sports stadium can be used for corporate meetings, community events and much more.
Projects like these not only focus on technology, but also focus more on improving the overall experience. Reduced lines, better services, and more engaging environments all contribute to an enhanced visit. At the same time, clubs benefit more by making optimum use of their spaces and creating varied sources of revenue generation.
Sportscape believes that this kind of infrastructural development is no longer optional; it’s necessary. Fans now enter the stadium with a greater expectation of a smooth and memorable experience. Investment projects like Espai Barça not only improve how venues function but also help clubs maximise their potential, both in terms of engagement and revenue generation.
