Pulwama and Anantnag Youth Push for Better Sports Infrastructure to Unlock Their Potential
Despite evident talent, the youth emphasize that without timely infrastructure upgrades and sustained support, their potential risks remain untapped

Sports are the best medium for sustained development and welfare of any disturbed region, for they engage the youth in a healthy lifestyle and give them a purpose to prevent them from getting brainwashed into crime.
The regions of Anantnag and Pulwama have realized this and have taken initiatives to foster sports development in the area with Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat's review in Anantnag and a stadium in Barsoo, Pulwama.

Voices of the youth demanding their right to sports infrastructure accessibility
The youth of South Kashmir have strengthened their voice to urge the government for active infrastructural support in the sports field.“This stadium has been undergoing construction for a long time, due to which athletes are unable to play their games there,” Shakeel Ahmad, a local cricketer, said.
He further highlighted that if football occupied the already limited sports area, the cricket team would have nowhere to practice.“The stadium is too small and cannot even cater to one sport properly, let alone multiple games. Either this ground should be reserved for one game, or separate facilities must be developed so that all players can train without disruption,” Shakeel added.
Sports potential of south Kashmir
“Our youth are talented, but without proper facilities, their energy is not channeled. More sports infrastructure can help keep them away from drugs and other harmful activities,” he said. Sameer Ahmad, a football player from Anantnag, said.Uniting their voices, the athletes displayed their discontentment with the current sports infrastructure of the area, urging the government to fulfill their promises.“South Kashmir has immense sporting potential. All we need is the right support and facilities to prove our mettle,” the athletes said.
