Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announces a National Shooting League to strengthen India’s sports ecosystem, boost athlete pathways, and enhance opportunities across regions including Jammu & Kashmir.

In a significant boost to India’s shooting ecosystem, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the launch of a national shooting league, positioning it as a key step toward building a structured and commercially viable competitive framework. The announcement coincided with his participation in the 75th anniversary celebrations of the National Rifle Association of India, where he also unveiled a dedicated athlete app aimed at streamlining performance tracking and athlete management.
The dual announcements reflect a broader push to integrate technology, governance, and competition structures within Indian sport, particularly in disciplines where India has demonstrated consistent global success.
Shooting League and Athlete App to Strengthen Performance Ecosystem
Mandaviya highlighted that the proposed shooting league will provide regular, high-quality competition, enabling athletes to transition more effectively from domestic circuits to international stages.
Alongside this, the newly launched athlete app is expected to digitise athlete data, monitor training progress, and improve coordination between federations and players. The integration of such technology-driven solutions signals a shift toward data-backed athlete development and performance optimisation.

Earlier, during his meeting with Gulchain Singh Sodhi, the minister discussed sports infrastructure development in Jammu & Kashmir, emphasising the need to create more opportunities for athletes from the region.
“Such initiatives will strengthen our sports ecosystem and provide athletes with better opportunities to compete and excel,” Mandaviya stated, reiterating the government’s focus on expanding access to quality training and competition platforms.
The proposed shooting league, combined with digital tools like the athlete app, is expected to play a crucial role in broadening India’s talent base, improving athlete preparedness, and enhancing global competitiveness.
