Scottie Scheffler Tops US Open 2026 Betting Odds Ahead of Career Grand Slam Bid at Shinnecock Hills
Scottie Scheffler ahead of the 126th US Open 2026 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club New York.

Scottie Scheffler walks into Shinnecock Hills this week as the man everyone is watching, and for good reason. He is the betting favourite for the 126th US Open, and a win here would make him the seventh golfer in history to complete the career Grand Slam, following Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, who completed it just last year at the Masters.
Scheffler's connection to this course goes back further than most people realise. He missed qualifying for the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock by nine shots, and graduated from the University of Texas that same spring before turning professional. He had never set foot on the property until he made a practice round visit there earlier this month, ahead of his title defense at the Memorial Tournament. Speaking about the course afterward, he said the fairways were wider than he expected, but the green complexes were extremely difficult, which is where he believes the real challenge lies.
His year has not been perfect outside of that history-chasing storyline. Scheffler finished runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the Masters, then settled for a tied 14th defending his PGA Championship crown at Aronimink. Still, his four major titles rank third in this week's field, behind only McIlroy and Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy sits as the obvious second pick on the betting boards. He completed his own career Grand Slam in 2025 and also played a practice round at Shinnecock this month, noting that while the fairways were generous, the five-inch rough just off them would punish anyone who strayed even slightly. Jon Rahm and Cameron Young, a New York native enjoying a breakout 2026, round out the group closest to Scheffler in the odds.
Tommy Fleetwood has history at Shinnecock too, having finished runner-up there in 2018, while his countryman Matt Fitzpatrick shares similar odds this week after a strong showing at last week's Canadian Open. J.J. Spaun returns to defend the title he won in 2025.
Sportscape feels that Scottie Scheffler has a chance to complete a career Grand Slam this week, making the U.S. Open even more exciting. He is also playing at Shinnecock Hills for the first time as a professional. With top players like Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm competing against him, golf fans can expect an exciting tournament and a thrilling finish.
