Shaheen Afridi Enters Pakistan Cricket’s Most Exclusive Pace Club Alongside Wasim and Waqar
Shaheen Afridi enlisted himself in the elite list by taking Alex Carey's wicket on the first ball

Shaheen Shah Afridi, the captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team (Men's) has joined Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis by taking a wicket on the first ball of the innings against Australia.
Pakistan is hosting a series of 3 One-day Internationals against Australia on their home grounds. Yesterday, the second match of the series took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Although, Pakistan has lost the match, it has become a very memorable match for the Pak captain. As, he has enlisted himself in the rare list by taking the wicket of Alex Carey.
Former captain of the team and current prime minister of the country Imran Khan was the very first player of Pakistan to take a wicket on the first ball of an ODI series. On 22nd March, 1985 there was a match in Sharjah with India. In that particular match, Khan took the wicket of Ravi Shastri on the very first ball.
Later, Wasim Akram was the very first Pak captain to achieve the same record, and he's the very first captain to hold the record. The match was against Zimbabwe. And the ODI was taking place in Karachi in December, 1993.
Waqar Younis was the third Pakistani player and second Pakistani skipper to have his name listed on 17 June, 2001 by taking the wicket of Marcus Trescothick, an English opener.
Although, Shaheen has already taken a wicket on a first ball before. He took the wicket of Travis Head in April, 2022 the first time. So, he became the third Pakistani bowler to achieve the milestone. Formerly Akram and Mohammad Irfan held the same record. All three of them have got a wicket in their first delivery of the innings.
