Spain Official FIFA 2026 Squad Announced! No Real Madrid Player, Lamine Yamal And 7 Other Barcelona Stars Lead La Roja's Charge, See Full List
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has officially announced his final 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. While no Real Madrid player could make way, 7 players from La Liga champions FC Barcelona are in the squad, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal leading the charge.

Spain arrive at this World Cup as one of the most feared teams on the planet. They are the reigning European Champions (Euro 2024) and Olympic Champions (Paris 2024), and now they want to complete a historic treble by winning the World Cup too. No men's national team has ever held all three titles at the same time.
Barcelona's Stamp All Over the Squad
Coach De la Fuente has placed enormous trust in FC Barcelona. Eight of the 26 players selected are from Barcelona: Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsí, Eric García, Dani Olmo, Joan García and Ferran Torres. Many of them have just won the La Liga title. It is a clear sign of how dominant Barcelona have been this season, and how deeply the club's style of play is now embedded into Spain's national team DNA.
Gavi and Eric García are among the notable returnees. Both players fought their way back from difficult periods and forced their way into the squad through sheer performances at club level. Their inclusion tells a story of resilience as much as football quality. But while the squad has been studded with Barca stars, none of the Real Madrid players could find a spot for themselves.

All Eyes on Lamine Yamal
At just 18 years old, Lamine Yamal is already Spain's most talked-about player. He had a hamstring injury in the final stretch of the season, but he has recovered well and is expected to be fully fit for the tournament. Spain will be relying heavily on his electric pace, creativity, and big-game mentality down the right wing.
Yamal first announced himself to the world at Euro 2024 as a 16-year-old, the youngest player ever to represent Spain at a major tournament. He has since won two La Liga titles and two individual Laureus awards. The World Cup will be his biggest stage yet.
Can Spain Make History?
Spain have not gone past the Round of 16 in their last three World Cups. But this feels like a different era. With Rodri (2024 Ballon d'Or winner) anchoring the midfield, Yamal and Nico Williams tearing defences apart wide, and a generation of players who know nothing but winning at club level. The pieces are in place for something special.
The question is not whether Spain have the talent. They clearly do. The question is whether they can translate Barcelona's and Athletic Bilbao's club form onto the grandest stage of all. North America awaits.
