Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), on Tuesday, chaired a high-level review meeting at Dak Bungalow Rajouri to review the status of sports infrastructure and intensify the development of sports facilities across the district.
Officials discussed about expanding sports infrastructure in Rajouri along with creating opportunities for youth. Choudhary also ordered the Youth Services and Sports department to implement new initiatives in the sports sector. Providing a major boost to Rajouri’s sports development, sports infrastructure projects worth 40 crore were also approved during the review meeting.
Detailed project reports (DPRs), technical sanctions, and administrative approvals related to sports infrastructure projects were presented at the YSS review meeting. The Commissioner Secretary reviewed the progress of the ongoing projects and ordered the timely execution to ensure delivery of quality sports facilities to aspiring athletes and youth across Rajouri.
Choudhary reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening sports infrastructure in remote districts and promoting youth participation in sports. He noted that several parts of the district continue to face a shortage of adequate sports facilities and advised the officials to address these gaps at the earliest.
Assessing the ongoing sports infrastructure projects, he added that a strong network of sports infrastructure is expected to come to life across Rajouri by the end of this year. He remarked that improved sports capabilities would nurture sporting talent and also provide constructive avenues for youth engagement.
Sportscape views the investment worth 40 crore in sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri as a worthy step towards building a stable sports ecosystem in the district. This decision aligns with the union territory’s broader vision to become a future sports hub.
