The Karnataka Budget 2026-27 Spurs Mega Sports Infrastructure Expansion
The CM announced a Karnataka Housing Board initiative named Surya Kreeda Grama Anekal Taluk.

Karnataka saw a good 13.3% increase in its latest state budget announced by CM Siddaramaiah, with the annual sanction of ₹4,48,004 crore. Through projects like Kalyana Karnataka, worth ₹5000 crore, the state was seen prioritising sports-led infrastructural developments.
The CM announced a Karnataka Housing Board initiative named Surya Kreeda Grama Anekal Taluk. The facility shall be built with a generous seating capacity of 80,000 seats across 75-100 acres, making it one of the largest facilities in India. Monetary expectations between ₹1,650 crore and ₹2,350 crore have been estimated to host international events.
After announcing the hectic budget, the CM was seen attending the traditional kambala sports event at the 15th Muduru-Padooru Jodukare Kambala at Kudibail in Navoor village in Bantwal taluk.
“Kambala is a traditional sport that is also popular. In Kambala, people from different faiths participate, and the organisers have expressed their desire to hold the event in Mysuru as well. We have a responsibility to preserve it and popularise it among the youth,” he said.

State’s push towards infrastructure based development
Other noteworthy initiatives taken by the Karnataka government in its latest budget include the declaration of a Centre of Excellence for kayaking and canoeing at Hesaraghatta Lake, Bengaluru and the multisport facility in Mandya. Along with this, a next-generation cycling velodrome shall be built in Mysore, with varied taluks receiving multiple sports complexes. A sports science centre shall also be developed in Kalaburagi, along with a new wrestling arena in Belagavi.
