Trident-Shaped Floodlights Installed at Varanasi’s ₹450+ Crore International Cricket Stadium
Trident-shaped floodlights have begun rising at the under-construction Varanasi International Cricket Stadium.

The lanes of Varansi have long been echoed through the tales of spirituality, but now the roar of cricket will be heard the loudest from each intersection of the city. In a city where spiritual energy pulses through every alley and ghat, a new chapter is unfolding as the under-construction Varanasi International Cricket Stadium completes installing its iconic trident-shaped floodlights, reflecting both cultural heritage and sporting ambition on a global stage.

The stadium is spread over the Ganjari area for over more than 30 acres and is projected to cost the government about ₹450- 452 crores and will allow about 30,000 people to be seated. The architecture of the stadium gains its soul from the spirit of kashi having Crescent-shaped roofs of the venue, trident-shaped floodlight towers, with platforms that are shaped like ghats, deviating it from the essence of traditional ghats.
Recently, the work on the trishul-inspired lights have concluded, where the first floodlight mast has been tested, and the cranes have been seen returning back to construct the remaining posts. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, was seen visiting the stadium earlier this year, where he laid a resolute emphasis on the opportunity presented by the stadium to amalgamate the core cultural heritage of India with modern amenities.
Varanasi’s Expanding Sports Infrastructure
The sports infrastructural development in Varanasi is rising at a sprint speed. From the development of an iconic trident-lit international cricket stadium in Ganjari to new world-class basketball courts, having multi-sports complexes, and the development of football infrastructure, the region’s sports ecosystem is evolving swiftly, establishing Varansi as a lively nexus for youth training, competition, and emerging opportunities.
