Vietnam lifts curtain on Trong Dong Stadium, targeting world’s largest stadium title
The Trong Dong Stadium in Vietnam is expected to become the world's largest sports stadium.

Asia once again stands at the crossroad of redefining global sports with the construction of the world’s largest sports stadium. The Trong Dong Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam is expected to become the biggest sports stadium in world, while the construction is still underway.
Planned to hold around 135,000 spectators, the upcoming Trong Dong Stadium is expected to overtake North Korea's Rungrado 1st of May Stadium as the largest in the world. Slated for completion by 2028, the venue will be a centrepiece of the sprawling Olympic Sport City megaproject, which carries an estimated investment of more than $28 billion.
Decoding the World’s largest stadium’s architecture
The Trong Dong Stadium, as an iconic work of architecture, will have various distinctive features to meet standards of global sports. A wraparound ring-like structure will ensure improved acoustics and overall visibility. While a large-scale retractable roof will ensure sports events are not halted, it will also help in the hosting of special sports events. The world's largest stadium will also be equipped with a dynamic facade with LED lighting to handle visual effects, according to the event. Lastly, an aerodynamic design will be installed in the stadium to prevent the impact of extreme weather conditions.
Redefining fan experience with high-end technology
The world’s largest stadium will have high-cut technology to enhance the fan experience. The Trong Dong stadium will be equipped with ultra-high-definition 360° screens (4K/8K) and high-speed internet connectivity, including a 5G network and Wi-Fi. Another notable feature will be an integrated stadium app for indoor services, including navigation, food purchase, and more.
Sportscape believes the development of the world’s largest sports stadium in Vietnam is expected to bring a revolution in global sports. This project holds the potential to make Vietnam a hub for global sports events and at the same time boost the country’s economy.
