IPL 2026: RCB’s Top 5 Statistical Titans For Newly Renovated Chinnaswamy Stadium
The Chinnaswamy Stadium has undergone major renovation for the upcoming IPL 2026 season

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back. Fans now have a reason to stay stuck to the screens for the next two months. The IPL kicks off on 28th March with a much-anticipated contest between two powerhouses of cricket, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). And would it make sense if we talk about RCB and leave the M Chinnaswamy Stadium out of the discussion? Well, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been under constant spotlight since last year’s stampede, which led to the death of eleven fans. And the sad part? Most of the deceased people were young fans aged between 14 and 29 years. To pay tribute to the deceased fans, the RCB has decided to leave eleven seats vacant permanently in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) also took several other measures, such as renovation projects, , to avoid such situations in the future.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium has been revamped with major upgrades, including the installation of baggage scanners and new command centres to manage massive crowds. The CCTV cameras will be controlled by an AI tool called Jarvis to minimise the margin of error. Also, the entry/exit gates have been widened to over 6 metres. Approximately ₹7 crore has been invested in safety, including revamping and improving safety protocols. Bangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar also shared the details of the security measures at the Chinnaswamy in a press conference.
Six Deputy Commissioners of Police, around fifteen Assistant Commissioners of Police, 50 inspectors, 80 sub-inspectors, and hundreds of head constables and constables have been deployed to maintain safety and smooth operations. Only ticket holders are allowed to enter the stadiums, and unnecessary gatherings are to be avoided at the time of team arrivals. Also, to elevate the overall fan experience, new red coloured seats are being installed, aligning with the home team’s colour. A digital boundary has been installed in the stadium, with a new lighting setup arranged along the lower side of the roof featuring multi-coloured lights that create a vibrant look, especially during night matches.
All these security and viewership measures certainly justify how crucial this game is not only for the fans but to maintain the individuality of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Fans have been excited to witness the action tonight at the stadium, and some names have surfaced from the experts that can help create an impact tonight in the RCB camp.
Virat Kohli

Back with a new hairstyle straight from London, Virat Kohli has been arguably one of the favourites. The 37-year-old has given the RCB team his youth, his prime, and now contributes with his experience. He has played 94 of his total 267 IPL games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, scoring a total of 3202 runs at an average of 40.2. This makes him the only batter with 3,000+ runs at this stadium. He has an exemplary strike rate of 143.58 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli smashed four out of his nine IPL tons at this venue, marking another stunning record for himself with the most centuries at Chinnaswamy by any batter.
Virat Kohli is the all-time leading run scorer of the IPL, which puts him in his own league. He smashed 8661 runs in his IPL career with an average of 39.54 and a brilliant strike rate of 132.85. While the former Indian and RCB skipper has smashed 28 of his half-centuries in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, no other batter has managed to get close. So, Chinnaswamy is Kohli’s fortress.
Phil Salt

The English batter was kept silent during the 2026 T20 World Cup, apart from the Super 8 game against Sri Lanka, where he smashed 62 of 40 balls. During the 2025 IPL campaign, Salt came out to open with Kohli, and it’s a treat for the red army. He managed to score 403 runs in 13 innings with a blistering strike rate of 175.8. But his record in the Chinnaswamy was a little concerning last season. As per Cric Metric, since his IPL induction, Salt has played 6 games and managed 173 runs at RCB’s home turf. During the 2025 season, he played 5 games and scored 143 runs, including a half-century. What was commendable was his strike rate of 160.7.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar

With Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood absent for a few games and Yash Dayal out of the 2026 IPL season, the pace bowling attack solely rests on veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar is the only player in IPL history to win back-to-back purple caps (2016, 2017). He is the only fast bowler among the top 5 highest wicket-takers in IPL history with 198 wickets, 17 of which came last season when he featured for the RCB. The 36-year-old has played 15 games at the Chinnaswamy in the IPL and managed to take 16 wickets for himself. He conceded 494 runs in his 55.5 overs bowled at the IPL since his debut. He has also managed to keep his economy rate under 9 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which makes him a lethal weapon for the unit.
Krunal Pandya

If you were to pick one of the most underrated players in the IPL, Krunal Pandya certainly finds a spot in the list. The older of the Pandya brothers has racked up 138 runs in his 9 IPL appearances so far. His ability to contribute with the bat as well as the ball makes him a strong pick for stabilising the middle order for any team. Krunal has bowled 41 overs in the Chinnaswamy Stadium and secured 6 wickets. Though the number of wickets might not amaze you, his economy rate of 7.66 at the Chinnaswamy makes him a suitable all-rounder who can bounce back in clutch situations.
Jacob Bethell

The 22-year-old English batter Jacob Bethell has been going through the form of his life. With his maiden test century in the 4th Ashes and a century against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-finals, he displayed his prowess as a batter and his ability to shift gears according to the conditions. Although he played just one game for the RCB last year due to national duty, he created an impact with the bat by scoring 55 runs in just 33 balls against the Chennai Super Kings.
