To make this happen, 16.55 acres of land belonging to the Sri Rajyalakshmi Sameta Bhavanarayana Swamy Temple has been leased to the District Collector for 33 years. The agreement includes a yearly lease payment of ₹50,000 per acre, which will increase by 33% every three years. Additionally, a small piece of land measuring 4,900 square feet has been set aside to build a concrete access road to the new stadium site.

Separate funds
Each selected constituency will receive dedicated funding for sports development works, including basic amenities and modern facilities. The government believes this move will strengthen Telangana’s sports ecosystem, promote fitness among youth, and create a steady pipeline of athletes for state and national competitions. Officials stated that the scheme will be implemented in phases, with priority given to underserved areas, and progress will be monitored closely to ensure effective utilization of funds.
Not just promise but delivering the work
In 2023, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs sanctioned an administrative grant of ₹9.5 crore to lay down an eighth-lane synthetic athletic track under the Khelo India Scheme at JawaharlalNehry Technological University (JNTU-Kakinada). Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman Animini Ravi Naidu recently disclosed that the construction of the track has been completed while reviewing a meeting at the SAAP headquarters.
Andhra Pradesh investing heavily in sports infrastructure
Already, an ₹800 crore world-class stadium in Andhra Pradesh is grabbing headlines, and the government finalized back-to-back grants of ₹54 crore and ₹60 crore under the Khelo India Programme recently. The state is playing an all-around bold game here.
Last year in July, CM N Chandrababu Naidu met with the Union Sports minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, seeking ₹538 crores fr establishment of stadiums and an additional ₹25 crores for hosting Khelo India Martial Arts Games. Just a month after, in August, Naidu announced that the pending incentives worth ₹16 crore, left unsettled, have been cleared in one go.
