J&K Boosts Grassroots Sports Infrastructure with DYSS Workshop After Khelo India
After the successful hosting of the Khelo India Winter Games across the Himalayan terrains, Jammu & Kashmir has kicked off the new financial year with a strong focus on long-term sports development

After successfully hosting the splendid Khelo India winter sports along the majestic terrains of the Himalayas, the first day of the financial year also saw a two-day extensive and detailed workshop on sports infrastructural growth.
The workshop was for officers and officials of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) J&K and was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, at the Convention Center. The major aim highlighted in the review meeting was the augmentation of sports infrastructure complemented by the talent acquisition. Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, and senior officers of the department were also present.

Minutes of the meeting
Other noteworthy participants of the review meeting were the District Youth Services and Sports Officers across J&K, alongside officers and officials from various wings, as well as expert Physical Education Masters and Teachers across the Union Territory.
“Such initiatives reaffirm DYSS's commitment to building a robust sports ecosystem, empowering youth, and positioning the region as a powerhouse in Indian sports," Dr. Iqbal said.Talks were conducted to streamline sports architectural growth in a phased manner, starting from the grassroots level of schools and colleges to zonal and district-level sports infrastructure. This shall further build competence for the UT level and prepare the athletes for the national school games under the School Games Federation of India.
Vision for Jammu
Jammu has started its transformative journey from places like Pulwama and Anantnag, where developments have already taken their momentum. District development commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat had recently carried out an extensive sports infrastructure review in Anantnag.
