“I Never Expected This” - Esha Singh Reflects on ISSF World Cup Glory After Stunning World Record Feat
Indian shooter Esha Singh won gold with a world record in the women’s 25m pistol event at ISSF World Cup Munich 2026.

Indian shooter Esha Singh created history by winning gold in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Munich with a world record score of 43 out of 50 in the final. The 21-year-old defeated some of the biggest names in international shooting, proving her ability to perform under intense pressure. The win also secured her a place in the season- ending World Cup Final in Rome.
“There was definitely pressure because in shooting, the outcome often remains uncertain until the final shot. My focus was on fighting till the very end and giving my best effort. I never allowed myself to become complacent or assume that a medal was already secured," she said.
Esha Singh stayed calm under pressure despite competing against big names, including Paris Olympic gold medalist Yang Ji-in and former champions. Then after the event, the Indian shooter said shooting is a simple sport technique and that handling pressure is often the biggest challenge. She also said she entered the final believing she was among the top athletes competing for gold.
Esha Singh said she was focused more on winning gold rather than chasing records and only learned about the world record after securing victory where she mentioned Munich as the one of the toughest venues because of the high level of competition and said even qualifying for the finals itself is an achievement.
“For an Indian, this is not hot at all. I was sweating a bit in the finals, but that was more due to pressure and the fact that I am lifting such a heavy gun. We deal with worse conditions in India. So normal day,” she added.
Sportscape highlights that Esha Singh’s performance in Munich highlighted the growing strength of Indian shooting on the global stage. Competing calmly against world-class opponents and delivering under pressure, her result reflects the rising consistency of young adult Indian shooters in major International events. With talented performances like these, India continues to grow its presence in shooting sports at the highest level.
