Government investment in Karnataka
In early January 2026, the Union Government of India approved ₹14 crore as part of the Khelo India scheme for a multipurpose indoor sports hall in Mandya district. The plant will be constructed on one acre within the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) VC Farm at Mandya, since land would be limited in the city centre. It will facilitate indoor sports such as volleyball, badminton, basketball, table tennis, and other recreational sports. The project was championed by Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who noted the potential benefits of the project in terms of national events and economic gains.
