Jalandhar's Lovely Professional University (LPU) secures national award for Best Indoor Sports Infrastructure
LPU has solidified its status as a premier sports powerhouse after being honored at the Global Sports Education Convention (G-SEC) 2026.

When sports facilities rise, champions rise. This isn’t just a textbook phrase; it's a motto that Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar, abides by. Recently, LPU has been conferred at the Global Sports Education Convention (G-SEC) 2026 for the Best Indoor Sports Facility. No wonder from where those 1st runner-up trophies in Khelo India University games, 3100+ participants, and 400+ medals in national and international sports events came from.
The award ceremony was organized by the Confederation of Sports and Recreation Industry (CSRI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Presented on January 28, 2026, this award highlights the state-of-the-art modern indoor stadium of LPU. The university also won the category of Best Social Media Promotion in Sports and Physical Education for the fact that the university has an overall sports ecosystem.
LPU Sports Infrastructure
LPU has huge infrastructure, consisting of an Olympic-standard indoor swimming pool, international standard courts for badminton, volleyball, table tennis, and basketball, a fully equipped shooting range, synthetic athletic tracks, football grounds, sports science laboratories, and rehabilitation centers for athletes. The main indoor sports stadium is equipped with many global levels of courts, professional training facilities, recovery areas, and 24/7 access to train. Major national championships and inter-university tournaments have been hosted in these assets, thus leading to the formation of elite athletes.
Spending on Sports
LPU is a big investor in sports as one of the pillars of education, and actively invests in the most advanced infrastructure, scientific education, and athlete sponsorship. Specific amounts of these investments aren’t publicly documented. This entails sustainable approaches such as collaborating with industries, scholarships to sports performers (both gym time and stipends), and ROI-oriented expansions, as can be found on G-SEC panel discussions. The founder Chancellor, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal (MP-Rajya Sabha), noted continuous spending on developing strong champions.
Other winners
These recognitions are provided to the universities with numbers varying depending on the category of award. Also, Deakin University has been recognised as the Best Foreign University for Sports and Physical Education in India.
