Delhi Development Authority to build “Sports City” in North Delhi’s Narela

North Delhi’s Narela is quietly but confidently stepping into the spotlight as a major sporting destination. Blended with strong existing facilities, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plans a massive multi-sports complex, often hailed as a full-fledged “Sports City”. Narela is set to complement grassroots venues like the Bankner Sports Complex and emerge as a powerhouse for the athletes and fans alike
Planned DDA Sports City
The DDA is fast-tracking a worl class 20.23 hectare multi-sports complex in Narela, near Holambi village along the UER-II. Envisioned by LG VK Saxena and approved within six months, the project signals serious intent. With tenders for design, build, operate, and management nearing completion, the sports city is targeting a three-year timeline to deliver Olympic-standard facilities capable of hosting international events.

Adding to the wow factor are plans for a hospital and hotel open to the public, seamless airport connectivity via UER-II, and access through two dedicated metro stations, making it one of the most accessible sports hubs of the capital.

Already serving local talent, the Bankner Sports Complex in Narela is a fan-favourite grassroots venue. With kabaddi grounds, trained coaches, wheelchair accessibility, and solid public amenities, it continues to nurture local athletes while the bigger vision takes shape.
