Nina Venkatesh Shatters Women's 50m Butterfly National Record With 27.57 Seconds

Nina Venkatesh set the new national record of touching the 27.57-second mark in the Women’s 50m Butterfly category at the Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026. She topped her previous best clock time of 27.70 seconds, making her the fastest woman in India. She outperformed herself by reducing 0.13 seconds from her last benchmark.

Nina Venkatesh set her first national record at the 37th National Games 2023 in Goa with a clock time of 27.70 seconds. She won gold by defeating Manavi (27.90 s) and Rituja (28.38 s). In the 2022 Junior National Aquatic Championship, the national swimmer finished ahead of Nilabjaa Ghosh and Jasnoor Kaur to claim a gold medal. The 20-year-old has consistently improved her performance and bagged several medals in the national championships.

With her new record, the Karnataka-born is ranked at no.1 in the 50 m Butterfly style of swimming. For the same category, Nina Venkatesh is at the 962 position internationally in the World Aquatics.
