Odisha Shines on Global Stage Ranging From Kalinga Stadium Excellence To Vishwakarma Award Glory
The state of Odisha continues to establish itself as a powerhouse of modern infrastructure and sporting excellence, earning global recognition through its robust disaster management systems and world-class facilities.

The land blessed by Lord Jagannath continues to bring laurels with its modernized infrastructural abilities. From the cyclone state's zero-casualty policy to being known in the world of disaster management, Odisha has truly surprised the world with its stellar architectural promptness.
Due to its comprehensive sports ecosystem, which bears evidence of its potential to host international events, Odisha recently won the bid to host the World Athletics Championships 2028. Continuing its winning streak, the land of Konark has now received the prestigious Vishwakarma Award for its marvelous infrastructural abilities.
The felicitation ceremony for the 17th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards was conducted at the Dr. BR Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Union Minister for road, transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari addressed the audience at the event.

Among the numerous structures that led to the award, special mention was made of the Kalinga Stadium sports complex as well as the Aquatic Centre and the badminton high-performance center ‘Shuttle’ at Kalinga Stadium. The central organization responsible for this achievement would be Shapoorji Pallonji (SPD).

It is a matter of great pride for Odisha to receive 17 CIDC Vishwakarma Awards at the national level, reflecting our steadfast commitment to engineering excellence and good governance. I am pleased that our state government departments have secured 10 of these awards. I also commend the Works and Sports Departments for their significant contributions to modern healthcare infrastructure and world-class sports facilities," said CM Mohan Charan Manjhi in appreciation of the state engineers.
Recent examples of Odisha's dynamic sporting culture
The Kalinga Stadium had recently hosted the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship, for which the stadium was converted into a beach court, which represented the versatility of the arena.Odisha also showed noteworthy performance at the Khelo India Tribal Games by winning 57 medals, of which 21 were gold, 15 silver, and 21 were bronze. Both these signal towards the strong sporting network in the state.
