Low Latency Sports Streaming with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Media over QUIC
At the NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas, Kip Schauer explained how Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is reshaping sports broadcasting by reducing latency and eliminating buffering during crucial moments of live matches.

The game is in its final minute. The last ball is left, and we need 4 runs to win. The baller throws a spinner, and right when the batsman lifts his bat, the screen goes into buffering. How frustrating will that be? In order to solve this problem, Oracle is using its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to ensure smooth broadcasting by working on compute, networking, storage, and GPUs, which when integrated causes growing suite of higher-level media services.
The 2026 NAB show held in Las Vegas witnessed Kip Schauer, Media Partnerships, OCI Media Services, talking about the revolution Oracle is intending to bring in the field of livestreaming and broadcasting of sports. The central theme of the interaction was the advancement of media over QUIC, emerging as the next generation of transport technology.

What is Media over QUIC
A straightforward low-latency media delivery system for media consumption and distribution is being developed by Media over QUIC (moq). This solution will scale effectively and handle use cases such as media conferencing, gaming, and live streaming. Both browser and non-browser endpoints will be able to use the solution.
Practical example of how OCI is being used to smoothen sports streaming
“Working with Globecast to support Content Exchange demonstrates how Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is enabling media companies to modernise their operations with confidence,” said Kip Schauer, Media Partnerships, OCI Media Services. “By combining high-performance networking, low latency, and cost-efficient data movement, OCI provides the foundation required to deliver live content at a global scale. The successful deployment with Premier Padel highlights how organisations can transition to cloud-based workflows while maintaining the reliability and quality the industry demands.
