Jammu & Kashmir is strengthening its grassroots sporting backbone as Sports Minister Satish Sharma announced an allocation of ₹45.824 lakh for sports infrastructure in Ramnagar, positioning the move as a gateway to youth empowerment and regional development.
Responding in the Legislative Assembly, Sharma emphasised the government’s commitment, stating that “steps are being taken for equitable development of sports infrastructure”, ensuring that young athletes in Ramnagar gain access to better facilities and structured opportunities.
The initiative goes beyond funding, with a focus on community playfields, school-level facilities, and regular sports activities, including tournaments, coaching camps, and awareness programmes aimed at nurturing local talent.
Opening New Sporting Pathways for Ramnagar’s Youth
The allocation reflects a broader policy shift where sports infrastructure is being treated as a tool for youth engagement and social development.
Minister Sharma highlighted that the department is actively working to expand access to facilities across rural and semi-urban pockets, ensuring that no talent is lost due to lack of infrastructure.
With consistent programming such as coaching camps and grassroots tournaments, the region is witnessing the gradual creation of a structured sports ecosystem, enabling young athletes to transition from participation to performance.
