Blueprint of the infrastructural project
The targeted stadium shall emerge as the central sports arena of the university, supporting multiple games like basketball, volleyball, and badminton. The project shall provide a dedicated training facility for the athletes as well as the university students, increasing participation at the ground level. Seating capacity should be made as per the university-level competitions as well as inter-university events.
Wider state push for sports led development
The mode of funding for these projects is not finalized yet, with the pendulum swinging from CSR funding to alumni contributions to government funding. This indoor stadium shall be a part of the state's wider ambition for Maharashtra, with projects like the Mankapur International Sports Hub being built after the revamping of the Mankapur-based divisional sports complex, worth ₹746.99 crore, becoming one of the biggest infrastructure projects of the region. Mention of the ₹75 crore Baramati sports complex can also be made as an example of private partnership sports initiatives.
