SoFi Stadium Revamp for FIFA Series Blends Natural Grass Shift with AI-Powered Crowd Tech
With the FIFA series fast approaching, SoFi Stadium in Southern California is undergoing rapid transformation to meet global football standards, emerging as a standout venue among selected NFL stadiums.

With just two months left for the FIFA series commencement, countries are gearing up their sports infrastructure development to meet deadlines. Among the seven NFL stadiums that are being targeted to host the FIFA matches, Southern California’s SoFi Stadium is one that has caught significant attention.
Popularly known as the Inglewood Stadium, the facility shall host a total of 8 matches this June and July. The stadium modifications ahead of the event are now nearing completion.
Roadmap to the upgradation to the seats and turf
More than 400 demountable seats have been removed from the stands to make space for the construction of the pitch. The major hurdle that the concerned authority for modification is currently facing deals with the turf. Rick Solomon, construction executive with the Clark Construction Group, told NBCLA that 74000 square feet of real grass shall be brought for this purpose."It's a natural grass field that will be put in an outdoor venue, but we are creating a venue here so that it can thrive," Solomon said. Otto Benedict, SoFi's vice president of facility and campus operations, told NBCLA that the stadium shall have a fixed seating capacity of 69000 seats adjacent to VIP suites. The VP also laid special emphasis on the fan engagement, for which he said, "If you were standing right there, that's where the grass pitch will come up to, so you will be closer than any other venue."
AI enhanced infrastructural model
Along with the stadium, the city has also been targeted to be modernised by the inculcation of AI to monitor and manage the crowd and facilitate pedestrian movement. AEON technologies are being used for the same.
