Florida Gators' home ground The Swamp will undergo massive rennovation under a $1.45 billion project apporved by the University of Florida.

Popularly known as “The Swamp”, Florida Gators' home ground will be undergoing a massive transformation as the University of Florida has given approval to the $1.45 billion renovation project. The stadium renovation project is being hailed as the most expensive stadium renovation in the history of American college football.
According to a report by The Gainesville Sun, the University of Florida Board of Trustees met on June 11 to approve the renovation plan. Mori Hosseini, Chair, University of Florida Board of Trustees announced the board’s decision to undertake the most anticipated renovation of the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka The Swamp.
The Swamp to undergo major transformation
Hosseini confirmed that the $1.45 billion project will revitalize one of the nation’s most iconic college football venues, turning it into a premier collegiate athletic destination, setting nationwide standards.
The stadium renovation plan is to modernise critical system, improve accessibility, enhance the fan experience and create new revenue opportunities. The FAQ at the project company’s website read that with the renovated stadium will make the game day more comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable for the fans.
Facilities like concessions, improved restroom access, enhanced mobility within the stadium and much more are expected to be added after the renovation. The stadium will go ahead with the current capacity of 80,000 spectators.
The stadium renovation project is expected to begin following the 2026 football season, with the completion planned before the 2030 season. Despite the renovation, the Swamp will remain Florida Gators’ home ground.
