USA-Israel Attack Iran: Strikes Send Sports Infrastructure in Middle East Into Jeopardy
Amid the USA-Israel attack on Iran, Iranian officials reported that many sports facilities have suffered major destruction

West Asia is at war. No more doubts or diplomacy, no more half measures or limited strikes. The United States and Israel have unleashed an all-out war on Iran. The result? Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is dead. Its the biggest blow to the Iranian regime in decades. This has led to massive outrage in the Iranian administration, and Iran is hitting back hard. It is targetting Isreali citizens in the Arab Gulf states. This retaliation has led to major damage to the local infrastructure, including many sports facilities on both sides.
The Iranian officials confirmed that several infrastructure to the Iran Handball Federation has severly damaged by the coordinated attacks of the US and Israeli governments.
"Following the barbaric aggression and blatant violation committed by the occupying Zionist regime and the US against our beloved homeland of Iran, today (March 1), the Handball Federation’s headquarters—including its administrative building, the martyr Soleimani Hall, and dormitories—suffered extensive destruction, even worse than that seen during the 12-day war," the federation released a statement.
Attack on school and gymnasium
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as all the staff and athletes weren’t present near the complex during the attack. Iranian officials also said that another attack on southern Iran’s Hormozgan province was targeted, and Shajareh Tayebeh primary school in the coastal city of Minab was struck. The officials also reported that a strike on the town of Lamerd killed teenagers in a gymnasium.
Formula One on the brink
Iran’s retaliation has compelled the Formula One officials to monitor the attacks in the Gulf regions closely. Formula One’s Europe-based teams were preparing to travel to Melbourne for next weekend’s season opener, routing their flights through the Middle East and making adjustments to their travel plans. While next Sunday’s race is still expected to proceed as planned, the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, scheduled as the fourth and fifth rounds of the new season on April 12 and 19, are also on the calendar.
