Former Sri Lanka Captain Meets Vaibhav Suryavanshi After Ugly Fight, Says…
Vaibhav Suryavanshi meets the first ODI captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team after the heated exchange.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, AKA “Baby Boss,” lost his cool during Sri-Lanka A Vs India Amatch at Dambulla. The heated argument began during the super over, when Sri Lanka A Cricket Team’s player Vishen Halambage sledged Vaibhav to “go home” and said, “this is not IPL”. The sledging frustrated the skipper and eventually turned into an ugly fight. Some players of the Sri Lanka A Cricket Team were pushed. The umpires present on the field broke up the fight. After the match, Sri Lanka’s first international ODI captain, Anura Tennekoon, met the Indian prodigy who greeted him by touching his feet in respect. The former Sri Lankan skipper had some words of wisdom for the 15-year-old.
"You focus on your game and cut out the outside noise," Anura Tennekoon advises the young prodigy. “Today, unfortunately, you couldn’t get going. But that’s part of the game, you can’t get going every day,” he further added. The veteran waited for an hour to meet Vaibhav after the Sri-Lanka A Vs India A match at the Rangiri International Stadium.

The 79-year-old later spoke about Suryvanshi getting the orange cap in the IPL 2026 season.
Tennekoon On Vaibhav Getting An Orange Cap
"I was really impressed by his batting in the IPL. And hitting those sixes and fours the way he does is something unbelievable. I hope he continues in this way," said Tennekoon on Vaibhav’s sensational performance in IPL 2026. He said that he closely watched his matches in the IPL. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently a part of the Rajasthan Royals dugout. The young player was awarded the Orange Cap for scoring 776 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.30 in IPL 2026.
Tilak Verma’s Captaincy Faces Criticism
Tilak Verma also faced the repercussions of the fight. Despite the draw, he and the India A’s support staff allegedly forced the umpire to declare a super over even when the lights were fading. This led to harsh criticism of his decision as a captain in the series. India lost the super over, and the game turned into a thriller till the end.
Sportscape observes that cricket is a very eventful sport, but it should not shape the player’s attitude on and off the field. While Vaibhav Suryavanshi has earned the golden opportunity to be a part of Sri-Lanka A Vs India A squad, his discipline on the ground will also affect his position in the upcoming series.
