Bangladesh vs Australia: 21 Years of Waiting End as Tigers Stun Australia in DLS-Fuelled Historic Victory
Bangladesh won the first ODI match against Australia after 21 years

Bangladesh has made history by winning over Australia in yesterday's match hosted by them in Dhaka. This was the first ODI of the Australia vs Bangladesh ODI series. And for the very first time in the last twenty-one years as well as for the second time as a whole Bangladesh has won an ODI match over the Aussies.
TheTigers set the Kangaroos down in the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern also primarily known as the DLS system. Bangladesh has scored a total of 284 and lost 8 wickets in 50 overs. In contrast, Australia could chase 191 runs and lost 9 wickets in 42.2 overs. Then Rain interrupted and Bangladesh won the match in the DLS system getting 1 point. This was the first win of Bangladesh since 2005. They've played a total of 23 ODI matches against Australia and this is their second win.
Team Australia has to cut off three of its important players for this ODI. Skipper Mitch Marsh, celebrated Aussie batter Travis Head along with bowler Sangha. The former skipper stayed out of the ODI series because of his injury and the last two are not a part of this tournament as one of them is on a personal leave and the other has an injury. Although Marsh will join the team for the upcoming T20 matches. And lead them as usual.
Therefore, in yesterday's match after winning the toss the Aussie stand-in captain decided to bowl first. Though the Aussie bowlers tried to keep the match under pressure, Bangladeshi batters especially Shanto and Mosaddak Hossain kept the runs growing. Both of them have made a half century. Also, the Bangladeshi captain tried to hold the batting lineup in the later part of the first innings.
Although team Australia tried to maintain the pressure through bowling, their batting lineup really crumbled down in the second innings in front of the Bangladeshi bowling. Nahid Rana deserves a special mention for his 4 wickets which include Marnus Labuschagne and Cooper Connolly along with Liam Scott. Scott was playing his debut match on this day. Only Cameron Green has scored a half-century from the Aussie squad followed by a score of 35 made by Connolly.
Sportscape thinks the exclusion of three important players affected the performance of the Aussie squad. We really hope to see them coming back in the next matches. And we wish our heartiest congratulations to the Tigers for winning the match and creating history with their national team.
