Central University of Haryana Gets Major Sports Infra Boost with Synthetic Track & Multipurpose Hall
Central University of Haryana (CUH) expands its facilities with a new synthetic athletic track and a multipurpose indoor hall, positioning the campus as an emerging hub for competitive sports development.

Haryana’s push towards strengthening university-level sports infrastructure has gained fresh momentum as the Central University of Haryana (CUH) expands its facilities with a new synthetic athletic track and a multipurpose indoor hall, positioning the campus as an emerging hub for competitive sports development.
The development is part of a broader effort aligned with the Khelo India initiative, aimed at creating world-class infrastructure within educational institutions to nurture grassroots talent. A 400-metre, 8-lane synthetic athletic track has already been sanctioned with dedicated funding, reinforcing the university’s athletics ecosystem.
Simultaneously, construction of a ₹16.53 crore multipurpose hall is underway, designed to host indoor sports competitions and structured training programmes, further elevating CUH’s capacity to organise national-level events.
Inside CUH: A Growing Multi-Sport Infrastructure Ecosystem
The Central University of Haryana is steadily evolving into a comprehensive multi-sport campus, supported by both existing and upcoming infrastructure:
- 400m 8-lane synthetic athletic track under Khelo India funding
- Multipurpose indoor hall (₹16.53 crore) for indoor games and training
- Basketball and lawn tennis courts currently under development
- Four completed volleyball courts, already hosting inter-university tournaments
- Existing facilities including athletics track, shooting range, yoga hall, and outdoor sports arenas for football, kabaddi, kho-kho, and basketball
This layered infrastructure approach ensures that athletes have access to both training and competitive environments within the campus, reducing dependency on external venues.
Khelo India Driving University-Level Sports Transformation
The CUH expansion reflects a larger national trend where universities are becoming key nodes in India’s sports development pipeline. With targeted funding under Khelo India, institutions are being equipped with high-performance infrastructure, enabling them to host competitions and nurture talent simultaneously.
By integrating modern facilities with academic ecosystems, CUH is not just building infrastructure, it is creating a sustainable sports culture, where students can transition seamlessly from grassroots participation to competitive excellence.
As projects near completion, the university is set to play a crucial role in Haryana’s already strong sporting legacy, further strengthening India’s ambition to build a robust, future-ready sports ecosystem.
